RD2 BGS 15 m rockdrill
RD2 is the latest generation of remotely operated sub-sea Rockdrills. This drill employs a multibarrel carousel system to allow deeper penetration than was possible with previous systems. This rockdrill was developed by the BGS to meet the ever increasing demands of science community.

This new drill can continuously core in 1.5 m sections up to a total of 15 m below seabed in water depths of 3000 m or 10 individual cores up to 1.5 m samples in a localised area.

This system can be shipped to any convenient port and mobilised on a DP vessel of opportunity . The system is supplied with a passive launch and recovery system to allow operations to be carried out in higher sea states.
