LithoFrame 1M, the first national 3D geological model at 1:1 000 000 scale. It shows the most significant stratigraphic divisions, major faults and plutons in a single model. Surfaces depict the UK's geology from the base of Quaternary deposits in the near-surface down to the base of the Earth's crust (40 km).
The model for LithoFrame 1M for Britain has been constructed from a wide variety of sources including the 1:625 000 scale geological map, borehole information and deep geophysical investigations.
Constructed in GOCAD® following DGSM protocols, so that information about the contributing data and its incorporation is available. It is consistent with the most detailed interpretations of the shallow geosphere, including LithoFrame250, LithoFrame50 and LithoFrame10.
The model data can be obtained under licence at a small cost. Higher resolution models (such as LithoFrame250) should be used, as they become available, when more detail is required. Contact Enquiries for further details.
