This domain includes several areas of low to very low relief in the East Riding of Yorkshire, underlain by thick, stratified sequences of Devensian to Holocene age that are dominated by glaciofluvial sand and gravel and glaciolacustrine silt and clay.
The domain has almost complete cover of superficial deposits (~89%). Organic deposits form about 4% of the area (~4% of the area of superficial deposits).
Localized development of peat may occur within the alluvial floodplains.
