The first step in applying for BUFI funding is to contact Dr Jon Naden at BUFI with a brief outline of your research ideas, if your ideas are appropriate to the BGS strategy. Jon will put you in touch with a BGS scientist to discuss and progress your ideas towards formal application. To see what science we do, visit our research pages.
Formal applications are via a BGS scientist who will take the lead on writing the proposal and submitting it to the BUFI Committee. After a successful evaluation and, in the case of a studentship, selection of a student, a contract is drawn-up.
Our BUFI project managers are publishing scientists that have extensive experience of international project management and successful PhD supervision.
Submission deadlines
Currently we do not expect to make a call for proposals until at least Spring 2011.
