BGS staff taking soil samples in Morocco
Site update
We have several opportunities for Voluntary work experience within our Geochemical Baseline Survey of the Environment (G-BASE) project. Each summer we recruit primarily university students on their summer break to take part in 4-6 weeks residential fieldwork. This year we will be based in and around South London and parts of Kent and Surrey. You will be part of a small field team collecting soil and stream sediment and water geochemical samples, living and working with other Voluntary Workers (VW's). The work would suit those who enjoy the outdoors. VW's will often walk long distances between samples so physical fitness is important. We usually recruit environmental/earth science students. Those who in particular have studied aspects of geochemistry would find it an advantage. Please return application forms by 3rd April 2009.
