As part of National Science and Engineering Week the BGS is hosting its Fossil and Rock Show for primary schools - suitable for children at Key Stage 2 - at BGS Keyworth from Wednesday 11 to Friday 13 March 2009.

Please note, this year's event is fully booked. Schools who would like to be invited to our 2010 event can email us to be added to our mailing list.

The Big Bang Fair bursts onto the scene from 4th to 6th March 2009 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London.

The Big Bang aims to promote UK science and engineering generally, and inspire all students.

Paul Denton will be attending this event with the BGS School Seismology Project from 4-6 March.

BGS Wallingford are taking part in the 2009 Oxfordshire Science Festival. BGS will be hosting a stall called at the festival s launch event called Science in Your World in Bonn Square, central Oxford on Saturday 28 February between 12 and 5 pm.

Event
We are running free guided archive tours for the public at Keyworth on Saturday 29 November 2008 in support of the national Archive Awareness Campaign. This year's topic: Communities Industry and Earth History — How the past influences our environment
A unique opportunity for the public to see displays and demonstrations using some of the vast collections of records, specimens, archives and latest computing technology at BGS.
There will be ten 90-minute tours throughout the day - something for everyone. They will follow a geological timeline through the Library, Fossil Museum, National Geological Records Centre, Material Collections storage hall and end in the 3D visualisation suite.

Numbers are limited so booking is essential.
