Oilfield Minerals Outlook: Proppant Prospects for Europe
According to the US Energy Information Administration, Europe could have as much as 639 trillion cubic feet of recoverable shale gas reserves. Exploration has already taken place in Poland and Romania, and most recently the UK has joined the dash for gas.

The latest geophysical equipment will be on show and the exhibition will include a master class on GPS surveying for the geophysicist conducted by personnel from Leica. There will also be a “hunt the UXO” competition using your choice of geophysical methods with an iPad mini awarded to the winner.

BGS will be demonstrating GeoVisionary — specialist software for high-resolution, 3Dvisualisation of spatial data — and providing information on BGS technologies.

GEO-Events are free to attend and are designed for everyone involved in the capture and application of geospatial information for construction, civil engineering, development, local / national government agencies, professional survey practice and consultancy. The GEO-Events attract up to 40 exhibitors each year and include seminars, product demos and networking.

Archaeology and Landscape in the Trent Valley: Fourth Trent Valley GeoArchaeology Conference

This conference provides the opportunity for discussion of a wide range of geoarchaeological projects focused upon the Trent catchment, including research on early hunter-gatherer communities, later prehistoric and Roman landscape change, cultural resource management and developments in site prospection techniques.

BGS Open Day
The British Geological Survey will be holding an Open Day at the Environmental Science Centre in Keyworth on Saturday 8 June 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We are planning a packed programme of talks, tours and demonstrations illustrating the wide scope and applications of our research activities, as well as a very special guest appearance.

There will be something for rock lovers of all age - from newbies to experienced earth scientists.
