The NASCENT Project
Geological sequestration offers the potential to store all of Europe's CO2 emissions for geological timescales.
NASCENT will address key issues of geological CO2 sequestration by using natural occurrences as analogues for
geological repositories of anthropogenic CO2.
These issues include the long-term safety and stability of storage underground
and the potential environmental effects of leakage from an underground reservoir.
The project will provide clear information to assess and support management of the potential risks to the
environment. Natural CO2 accumulations provide ideal analogues for CO2 storage underground.
