DNGM's 5 divisions


Division of Research and Legislation

The Division of Research and Legislation is responsible for:

  • study the relative files to the demands of mining titles and industrial quarries
  • to assure the updating of the mining land-registry and the register of mining conservation
  • to regain the taxes of deliverance and royalties of mining titles and the authorizations of exploitation of quarries, of royalties and taxes bound to the establishments and strategic facilities in relation with the regime in place
  • to participate in the fixing of the selling prices of mining and oil products in Mali
  • to elaborate, to instruct and to follow the records of cooperation
  • to follow and to analyze the evolution of the mineral and oil substance prices at the level of the international market
  • to assure updating of the mining code, oil of Mali and the law on strategic facilities.

The Division Research and Legislation consists of two sections :

  • Section of Research
  • Section of Legislation


Division of Geology

The Division of geology is responsible for:

  • to elaborate, to follow and to control the programs of mining inventory and geological mapping
  • to follow and to control the activities of research societies, of geological and mining exploitation
  • to establish the file of (mineral) indexes
  • to centralize the results of geological and mining research works on the national territory and to participate i n the synthesis of geological data and the updating of the geological map
  • to instruct all relative records to activities of research
  • to do or to make do the works of fundamental geology and related publications

The Division of Geology consists of two sections:

  • Section of Mining Prospecting
  • Section of Geological Mapping

Division of Mines

The Division of Mines is responsible for:

  • to follow and to control the activities of the mining exploitation companies
  • to control the application of the regulations on mines, and their dependences
  • to follow and to control the activities of exploitation in the mines, the quarries and their dependences
  • to analyse studies of feasibilities and reports of activities of exploitation companies
  • to analyse the reports of the boards of directors of the exploitation companies
  • to evaluate the socioeconomic impact of mining activity
  • to instruct the relative files to the merchandising and to the control the quality of precious and semiprecious stone
  • to instruct all relative files to the activities of exploitation

The Division of Mines consist of two sections:

  • Section of Inspection
  • Section of Assessment

Division of Strategic Facilities and Mining Environment

The Division of Strategic Facilities and Mining Environment is responsible for:

  • to instruct the files of strategic facilities other that those relative to the liquid, solid or gaseous hydrocarbons
  • to participate in the analysis and assessment of the relative files to studies of impact on the mining environment
  • to control the application of regulations on strategic facilities other than hydrocarbons
  • to assure the surveillance of strategic facilities on environmental norms, hygiene and security
  • to participate in the follow-up and the control of the environmental impact of mining projects and strategic facilities
  • to look after implementation of measures of attenuation already recommended
  • to instruct the relative files to civil explosives and accessories

The Division of Strategic Facilities and mining Environment consists of two sections:

  • Section of Strategic Facilities
  • Section of Mining Environment


Division of Hydrocarbons

The Division of Hydrocarbons is responsible for:

  • to establish programs to search for the hydrocarbons, the bituminous rocks and the asphaltic rocks and to assure the control of the execution of it in the context of the oil inventory
  • to participate in the assessment of all feasibility surveys in the liquid, solid and gaseous hydrocarbon domain
  • to participate in the development and the synthesis of all documents relating to hydrocarbons
  • to participate in the quality control of oil products in Mali
  • to instruct the files of the establishments and strategic facilities relative to the liquid, solid and gaseous hydrocarbons
  • to control the application of regulations on pressure devices of steam and gas.

The Division of the Hydrocarbons consists of two sections:

  • Section of Oil Exploitation
  • Section of Petrochemicals
