Definition of Upper Boundary: The top of the first main sandstone that forms part of a significant sandstone-dominated sequence below the Kilburn Coal.
Thickness: Up to 60 m thick.
Geographical Limits: South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
Parent Unit: Pennine Lower Coal Measures Formation (PLCM)
