Lithological Description: Parallel bedded, buff coloured and moderately fossiliferous dolomite with scattered patch reefs and (in the southwest) calcitic and dolomitic mudstones.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at base of buff dolomite where it rests on the highest finely laminated stratum of the Marl Slate or on basal Permian continental strata or carboniferous strata.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at base of pale grey ooidal dolomite of the Sprotbrough Member; also at the top of the lower dolomite of the Hampole Beds where present.
Thickness: Up to 40 metres (commonly 12 to 20 metres).
Geographical Limits: Eastern England, (Yorkshire Province).
