Lithological Description: Laminated silt and clay, generally red-brown.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Generally conformable on Mill of Forest Till Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Generally overlain conformably by the Drumlithie Sand and Gravel Formation.
Thickness: Very variable, generally 3 to 4m; 7.7m proved in boreholes.
Geographical Limits: Howe of Mearns area and flanking the coastline between Stonehaven and the mouth of the River Dee.
Parent Unit: Mearns Glacigenic Subgroup (MDR)
