Lithological Description: Limestone, grey, bioclastic, micritic with abundant shelly fossils and thin calcareous mudstone partings; reefs (bioherms) locally present.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of limestone-dominated beds overlying calcareous mudstone-dominated Nodular Limestone Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Base of pale grey silty calcareous mudstone with sporadic limestone nodules of the overlying Lower, Middle and Upper Elton formations (undifferentiated). These are equivalent to Lower Ludlow Shales.
Thickness: 8.6-10.4m at Wren's Nest, Dudley.
Geographical Limits: West Midlands.
