Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at the conformable upward passage from the Catsbit Limestone Formation of the Upper Liddesdale Group to the overlying Millstone Grit of the Millstone Grit Group.

Geographical Limits: Liddesdale, Dumfriesshire and Roxburghshire (now called the Borders Region).
