At point in conformable sequence where red or brown mudstones of primary origin (eg Etruria Formation) become predominant over grey beds; or at base of sub-Permian unconformity. |
Thickness: |
Up to c.400m in the Potteries Coalfield; to c.350m in Lancashire. |
