Lithological Description: Grey and brown, locally pebbly sandstones, with subsidiary mudstones.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Diachronous over the top of the Ochil Volcanic Formation lavas, except in the Bridge of Allan area where volcaniclastic conglomerate is overlain.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The base of the Buttergask Flagstone Member within the Scone Sandstone Formation.
Thickness: From 300 m to 500 m thick.
Geographical Limits: The Stirling to Alloa area, on the south-east limb of the Strathmore Syncline.
Parent Unit: Scone Sandstone Formation (SCN)
