Lithological Description: Cyclical repetition of sandstones, siltstones, mudstones, thin limestones and some coals.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Conformable: taken at the top of the uppermost limestone beds of the Great Limestone Member, which are overlain by a sequence of dark grey siltstones and mudstones at the base of the Stainmore Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Conformable: base of Subcrenatum Marine Band or equivalent.
Thickness: To 1000m
Geographical Limits: Northeast England.
