Lithological Description: Grey pebbly sand (less than 3 m thick) on reddish brown, interbedded silty sand, silt and clay (less than 4 m thick), on reddish brown sand and gravel.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp undulating, erosional contact on reddish brown, clayey, sandstone-rich diamicton of the Gretna Till Formation or bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Ground surface, generally up to 3.5 m above the floodplain.
Thickness: Up to 7 m (see lithology description).
Geographical Limits: Valley of the River Esk.
Parent Unit: Solway Esk Valley Formation (SESKV)
