Lithological Description: Sand, sandy gravel and gravel, locally clayey. Gravel is predominantly subangular flint with subordinate debris of chert, polished quartz grain and larger fragments of pebbly ferruginous sandstones derived from Lower Cretaceous sequences to the north.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformably overlies Lower Cretaceous bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Ground surface.
Thickness: Generally up to 4m thick, locally up to 10m.
Geographical Limits: Chichester and Bognor district.
