Lithological Description: Mainly silty sand, gravel and cobbles, poorly sorted, forming shelving raised beaches. The deposits commonly pass landwards into interbedded sand, silt and clay underlying raised tidal flats and lagoons.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Mainly unconformable on till or bedrock.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Ground surface.
Thickness: Up to 10 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Northern England and Scotland.
