Lithological Description: Red-brown ro purple-grey, fine- to coarse-grained sandstone, the lower part contains red mudstones and siltstones with small calcareous concretions with local pebbly sandstones, including concretionary limestone clasts.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The top of the uppermost fine-grained unit of the Dundee Flagstone Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The base of the Auchmithie Conglomerate Member of the Scone Sandstone.
Thickness: About 455 m thick.
Geographical Limits: The coastal area between Monifieth and Lunan Bay/Red Head, and the south-east limb of the Sidlaw Anticline.
