Lithological Description: Mainly reddish sandy mudstones intercalated with sandstones and subsidiary siltstones. The local basal breccia of conglomerate is exposed at Siccar Point.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Unconformable upon folded Llandovery rocks, well exposed at Siccar Point [NT 812 710].
Definition of Upper Boundary: The base of a predominantly sandstone succession belonging to the Greeenheugh Fomration.
Thickness: Estimated to be about 200 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Southern Uplamnds Terrane of Scotland.
