Lithological Description: Massive and bedded fine- to coarse-grained tuff, some volcaniclastic sandstone at top. There is some uncertainty over whether the rocks are primary pyroclastic or reworked and resedimented.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Indistinct contact with vitric (welded) tuff of the Thirlmere Tuff Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Sharply overlain by lapilli-tuff of the Lincomb Tarns Tuff Formation (undivided).
Thickness: 30 - 60m
Geographical Limits: North Lake District immediately east of Thirlmere.
Parent Unit: Lincomb Tarns Tuff Formation (LTA)
