Lithological Description: Alternating beds of grey, medium-grained, turbiditic sandstone (greywacke) with washed-in fossil debris of brachiopods, molluscs, trilobites etc; and grey siltstones - in some cases laminated with silty mudstone.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Not seen, formation occurs in core of anticline.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Presumed transitional with overlying greywacke/siltstone sequence of Patrick Burn Formation, but everywhere faulted.
Thickness: 200m
Geographical Limits: Muirkirk to Strathaven area, Strathclyde region, Central Scotland.
