Lithological Description: A highly porphyritic dacite, with abundant large phenocrysts of white plagioclase and less commonly, green-grey quartz in a dark grey, fine-grained groundmass.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Not seen.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Grades upwards to peperite breccia, interleaved with volcaniclastic sandstone of the Bardon Hill Volcanic Complex.
Thickness: At least 50 m, possibly up to 200 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Bardon Hill Quarry, Western Charnwood Forest.
