Definition of Lower Boundary: A conformable contact of this prominent mudstone with sandstone of the enclosing Saugh Hill Grits Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: A conformable contact of this prominent mudstone with sandstone of the enclosing Saugh Hill Grits Formation.
Thickness: 30 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Limited to Penwhapple Burn, near Girvan, but may correlate with the Glenshalloch Shale Formation (GLSH) in the Craighead Inlier. May not be able to see outcrop on the map at this scale.
Parent Unit: Saugh Hill Grits Formation (SHSG)
