Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use EDY] Fluvial, aeolian and sabkha sediments overlying the lacustrine flagstones of the Caithness Flagstone Group. NOTE: Composite of formational type sections in northern Caithness and Orkney. Various cliff sections in the Orkney Islands.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of the predominantly fluvial sandstones that cut across the top of the lacustrine flagstones.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Uppermost sediments of the Orcadian Old Red Sandstone sequence. (Top everywhere eroded).
Thickness: Over 1000m.
Geographical Limits: Northern Caithness and Orkney.
