Lithological Description: Red grey and yellow sandstones sometimes lightly friable, and reddish marly clays; included on horizon of Silurian calcareous shale with fossils.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at the base of the sandstone of the Millbuie Sandstone Group where it rests conformably upon conglomerate of Devonian age.
Definition of Upper Boundary: The group is unconformably overlain by Pleistocene deposits.
Thickness: 900 metres approx.
Geographical Limits: Millbuie Moor, Black Isle, Ross-shire.
