Definition of Upper Boundary: At top of mudstone of Cambriense Marine Band.
Thickness: Up to c.680m in Potteries Coalfield, North Staffordshire; more (to c.750m) in Lancashire.
Geographical Limits: Central and northern England and North Wales.
