Lithological Description: |
Typically clast-supported, poorly sorted cobble gravel forming glaciofluvial terraces. Clasts are generally rounded to well rounded and comprise Borrowdale Volcanic Group rocks, slate, red, yellow and white sandstones, granophyre and granite. |
Definition of Lower Boundary: |
Generally erosional contact on older members of the Gosforth Glacigenic Formation. At its type section it rests on the Rothersyke Till Member. |
Definition of Upper Boundary: |
Generally occurs at the ground surface. |
Thickness: |
Typically 2 to 4m thick |
Geographical Limits: |
1:50k Sheet 37 Gosforth. Egremont - Beckermet area, and Lower Wasdale area (seaward of the "Gosforth Oscillation Limit"), Western Cumbria. |
