Lithological Description: Pale-weathered, stratified sequence of garnetiferous silicic tuff, lapilli-tuff and pyroclastic breccia with intercalated volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks. Includes dacite (Scafell Dacite) and rhyolite (Rosthwaite) lavas.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of diverse sequence of tufflapilli-tuff that usually unconformably overlies the Crinkle Tuff Member (high-grade rhyolitic tuff) in the Airy's Bridge Tuff Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Defined by unconformable base of overlying Seathwaite Fell Sandstone Formation (volcaniclastic sandstone).
Thickness: 0 to 450m
Geographical Limits: Lingmell - Scafell - Longdale; Great Gable - Borrowdale - Rosthwaite; Yewbarrow - Illgill Head, Cumbria.
