Lithological Description: White-weatherd, massive, crystal-rich (K-feldspar), welded rhyolitic tuff containing lithophysae-rich zones locally.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Base of tuff; overlies volcaniclastic sandstones and andesite sheets of the Birker Fell Andesite Formation (undivided).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Top of tuff; overlain by volcaniclastic sandstones of the Blisco Member or by the Great Whinscale Dacite.
Thickness: 7 - 27m; ponded at one locality to 60m
Geographical Limits: West of Yoadcastle (SD 15 95) south of Devoke Water to Pike of Blisco (NY 27 04) and Seathwaite Tarn (SD 249 984), Cumbria.
