Lithological Description: Serpentinite, largely dolomitised and silicified, weathering grey-green to orange-brown where dolomitised, and jasper. Includes conglomerate with altered serpentinite matrix at Dounans, by Aberfoyle.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Tectonic; contact with adjacent Corrie Burn Hornblende Schist.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Outgoing of thoroughly altered serpentinite and incoming of dolomitised and silicified limestone of Dounans Limestone Formation (probably an unconformity). Boundaries with upper units are tectonic in part.
Thickness: c.250m maximum (estimated).
