Definition of Upper Boundary: At the base of the Clashnoir Semipelite Formation, where laminated semipelite passes up into more weakly laminated, partly graphitic, semipelite.
Thickness: c. 230m in Braes of Glenlivet, up to 120m in type area (River Avon), possibly duplicated by minor/medium scale folding.
Geographical Limits: Kylnadrochit, Strath Avon, Glenlivet, Braes of Glenlivet, Glen Suie.
