Age range: Marine Isotope Stage 2 (QMIS002) — Marine Isotope Stage 1 (QMIS001)
Lithological Description: Soft, highly plastic, silty clay with sand lenses and partings. Sporadic shell fragments, carbonaceous spots and inclusions. Bedding rarely visible, bioturbation may be present. Unit underlying it is a much stiffer clay unit, possibly a till.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Apparently conformable on Norwegian Trench Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Disturbed by interpreted iceberg ploughmarks, current erosion and bioturbation. Overlain by thin Holocene sand sedimentation.
Thickness: Ten metres maximum in Cormorant map sheet area, deduced from seismic section. Thickness to the south and east in the Norwegian Trench. Small pockets (<1m) on the plateau area of the Cormorant map.
Geographical Limits: Not defined.
