Lithological Description: Greywackes (beds dominantly less than 0.5 metres thick) with mudstone interbeds. Strata to north much more thickly bedded with substantial proportions of massive arenite. Strata to south (Carghidown Formation) distinguished by presence of red mudstone beds.
Definition of Lower Boundary: 'Lower' (Northern) boundary not seen.
Definition of Upper Boundary: "Upper" (Southern) boundary gradational into Carghidown Formation.
Thickness: c.6000 metre section, strata steeply dipping but intensely folded and faulted. Stratigraphic thickness could be as little as 1 - 2 km.
Geographical Limits: Not defined.
