Lithological Description: Massive to flaggy, thick to thinly bedded lapilli tuffs and volcanic breccias.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Not exposed, but believed to be a sharp, apparently conformable contact with underlying grey-green, finely laminated volcaniclastic mudstones and siltstones of the Blackbrook Reservoir Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Upwards conformable, gradation into stratified volcanic breccias and tuffs of the undivided Charnwood Lodge Volcanic Formation; contact not exposed, but defined at first occurrence of very coarse or lapilli-grade tuffs.
Thickness: About 330m, Grades laterally south-eastwards into Benscliffe Breccia Member.
Geographical Limits: Outcrops in northwest of Charnwood Forest between Charnwood Nature Reserve (SK 4670 1620) and Strawberry Hill Plantation (SK 4550 1718).
