Lithological Description: A dark grey mudstone, with pale siltstone laminae and quartz arenite sandstone as thin to medium beds locally forming packets up to several tens of metres; debrite (pebbly mudstone) locally in the south becoming extensive in the north.
Definition of Lower Boundary: In stratigraphical contact with the Barrule the base, which is marked by a change from a mudstone-dominated to a mudstone/sandstone facies
Definition of Upper Boundary: In stratigraphical contact with the Glen Rushen Formation, which is marked by a change from amudstone/sandstone facies to a mudstone-dominated facies.
Thickness: About 500 m thick.
Geographical Limits: Isle of Man.
