Lithological Description: Interbedded moderate to reddish brown (Munsell Soil) clay and silt with subordinate beds of gravel and silty sand. The fine-grained lithologies are typically laminated and some laminae are graded (rhythmites). Sparse shell fragments.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Sharp, unconformable contact with underlying dark reddish brown pebbly silt diamicton of the Green Croft Till Member of the Aikbank Farm Glacigenic Formation. Taken at the top of the uppermost bed of diamicton in the sequence.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Sharp, undulating, erosional boundary with overlying pale brown fine-grained sand of the Mainsgate Wood Sand and Gravel Member of the Aikbank Farm Glacigenic Formation.
Thickness: To 17.7m
Geographical Limits: Lower Wasdale, West Cumbria, inland of the limit of ice of the Irish Sea Ice Stream during the "Gosforth Oscillation".
