Definition of Lower Boundary: Transition from underlying Douglas Water Arenite, taken where the proportion of red mudstones exceeds that of sandstone.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Top of uppermost bed of reddish mudstone beneath the predominantly grey arenaceous beds of the overlying formation (which may be stained red).
Thickness: 72m
Geographical Limits: Lower Palaeozoic inlier of the Hagshaw Hills, Scotland, (50k Sheets 23E, 23W and 15W).
