Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use SOHI] Semi-pelitic and psammitic greywacke carbonaceous pelite, volcanics with limestones and conglomerates.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at base of semi-pelitic and psammitic wacke of the Southern Highland Group where it rests conformably on limestone interpreted as belonging to the Tayvillich Sub-Group.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at unconformable upward passage from greywacke and carbonaceous pelite of the Southern Highland Group to spilitic lava of Arenig age.
Thickness: Approximately > 5000 metres.
Geographical Limits: Antrim, Inishowen, Sperrin Mountains, Ox Mountains, Ireland. Inner Hebrides, Strathclyde, Central, Tayside, Grampian, Scotland.
