Lithological Description: Phyllitic semipelite and pelite, represented by andalusite-cordierite schist in part with rare quartzite and psammite.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Above Blackwater Formation at base of highly magnetic biotite-andalusite-schist easily mapped and/or traced by magnetometer between NJ 405 312 and NJ 441 351 (the Garnel Burn Pelite Member).
Definition of Upper Boundary: Boundary with overlying Macduff Formation, where the more semipelitic and pelitic lithologies give way to more psammitic lithologies with grits and conglomerates. Imprecise boundary, probably transgressive.
Thickness: Unknown
Geographical Limits: South eastern corner of Sheet 85E and southern margins of Sheets 86N and 86E north of the Boganclogh and Insch Basic Intrusions.
