Lithological Description: [Obsolete: use CFO, WBK] Predominantly green and brown sandstones, commonly gritty and pebbly, and locally calcareous with interbedded red marls (which are rarely seen).
Definition of Lower Boundary: Drawn at the base of the Clee Beds where sandstone conformably rests upon limestone of the Upper Abdon Limestone.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Drawn at the conformable upward passage from the Monkeys Fold Sandstone Formation where it is unconformably overlain by coal measures of the Farlow Group.
Thickness: 1200 metres approx.
Geographical Limits: The area around Shropshire including Brown Clee Hill.
