Lithological Description: Bluish-grey shaly mudstones, with rare thin limestones comprising a few per cent of the sequence.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Top of highest limestone in Granby Member.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Base of (ferruginous) Stubton Limestones in Foston Member, (see Brandon and others, 1990, for details of Stubton Limestones and other beds within Members).
Thickness: 21m to 24m; 22.10m in borehole F/B5.
Geographical Limits: East Midlands Shelf; thickens southwards towards London Platform; northwards, limestone beds develop within mudstone sequence.
Parent Unit: Scunthorpe Mudstone Formation (SMD)
