Lithological Description: Rubbly, massive to nodular limestone-calcrete palaeosol horizons.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Placed at base of thick mature calcrete, overlying red mudstones.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Placed at top of thick mature calcrete, above which sandstones of the overlying St.Maughans Formation appear.
Thickness: 2 - 5m, locally up to 8m.
Geographical Limits: Hereford-Worcester-Tewkesbury districts, but may equate with 'Psammosteus' Limestone(s) present throughout Wales and the Welsh Borderland.
Parent Unit: Raglan Mudstone Formation (RG)
