Lithological Description: A finely laminated, locally cross-bedded sandstone, more quartzose than the underlying formation.
Definition of Lower Boundary: The top of the New Orleans Conglomerate Formation.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Not seen as dips into the sea, elsewhere on Kintyre it is unconformably overlain by the Stratheden Group.
Thickness: At least 100 m thick.
Geographical Limits: South of Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula on Sheet 12, excluding Sanda and neighbouring islands.
Parent Unit: Arbuthnott-Garvock Group (ATGK)
