Definition of Lower Boundary: Underlain by grey mudstones of the Crossdale Mudstone, including the Isohomoceras sp. nov. Marine Band.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Overlain by marine siltstones and mudstones with the Homoceras undulatum Marine Band.
Thickness: 10 to 28m; thickest in the type area.
Geographical Limits: Lancaster Fells.
