Water vole: lives in burrows in waterside banks Harvest mouse: the harvest mouse weaves nests in reed and other grasses in wetlands Grass snake: the grass snake is a very able swimmer Otter: the otter is now returning to wetlands in its former range Frog: the frog will occupy all types of still water bodies Great crested newt: the great crested newt is fully protected and uses small ponds and ditches to breed
