Flying machine
Our flying machine enables you to take a fully interactive aerial view of the landscape in and around two very different virtual quarries.

Our first quarry is typical of a large operation working a hard rock such as limestone in an upland area of Britain. Stone from this type of quarry is normally crushed and used as aggregate in concrete and roadbuilding.

You will need to download a plug-in to view the virtual quarries. Please click on the 'Download plug-in' button below.
The second quarry represents a smaller operation which is typical of those which extract sand and gravel from river valleys in lowland Britain. Sand and gravel from this type of quarry is separated into different sizes and is also used mainly as aggregate in concrete. Although these quarries and the landscapes in which they sit are fictional, the quarries have been designed to be as realistic as possible. As you explore the quarries and the landscape around them, you can click on the 'I' (information) signs to learn more about particular points of interest.
