The DiGMapGB-625 Bedrock dataset comprises digital geological map data at 1:625 000 scale. It provides coverage for all of England, Wales, Scotland, the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. This version 5 dataset was created primarily from the 1:50 000 scale DiGMapGB-50 version 3 dataset (released in 2006) by generalisation involving cartographic selection, modification, simplification or exaggeration. The attributes and nomenclature used follow those used on the printed maps. The geology is fitted to a relevant topographic base at the time of production. The data has separate themes for bedrock, and igneous dykes together with a linear theme for geological faults. Each geological area (or polygon) is labelled or attributed with a name (based on its lithostratographical, chronostratigraphical or lithodemic nomenclature) and its composition (rock type or lithology). The data, available in vector format is downloadable from the website, GIS line and polygon data. (ESRI, MapInfo, KML, others available by request). BGS licensing terms and conditions apply to external use; non commercial use is free of charge.
The usual BGS licensing terms and conditions apply to external use of the data. Data licence required.
